I use to dress like Maddie, well it wasn’t as attractive as hers. I didn’t do that well at makeup and nails, but I was that girl in certain stages of high school and middle school. I got REALLY judged and bullied for it so it’s so beyond ironic to me that everyone dresses like her now and it’s accepted. I’ve faced that… ‘Are you copying me’ moments in my life. Those people I mean fake a33 friends aren’t in my life anymore lmao. Enough said though, I really have a fear of being average to the point that I’m so bland now with how I dress and look because I don’t want to look like others. But that’s seemingly impossible now because everything is so saturated. I’m 23, so I’ve grown through trial and error through out my life and I embody dark tones and colors. Which represents my shift in personality and mood. That’s one aspect of Maddie as a character is through out the show you see how her makeup and clothes are reflections of the downward spiral of her character arch. Which when I look into my past, I’m definitely in my Maddie rotting in her room with no makeup and severely depressed mode rn lmao

what a well rounded thoroughly explained banger I'd suggest 2003's thirteen and 1999's Jawbreaker, both are films that use fashion as a propeller to the main plot. Using the main character's style change through out to reflect the characters mental state, 2 very different situational premises with relatability even in there extremes (even now being a woman watching both the sense of "yup I get it" has continued), both coming of age girlhood tales as well!

I recently re-watched the movie on Netflix. Have you done a fashion analysis of "Killing Eve"? That would be fascinating.

The imitation can show as both trying to fit into conformity, or a lack of identity. When someone observes the aesthetics of what brings up another, they will try to intimate it to bring up their own confidence, or intentionally mock it since there can sometimes be a form of "competition" w another. Fashion is a form of art meant to embrace and empower ourselves instead looking for the validation of others through group think.

Whether the writers wanted it that way or not .. Natasha represents a person that you have a lot of empathy for . She is sandwiched in between to egomaniacal narcs , who didn't want to fully commit to one another but didn't want the other to be in another relationship either(mainly on bigs) . Big is the main problem as most triangulation loving men are but Miss Carrie was the "big-giest" pick me as well . Carrie irrational hatred for Natasha seems to be a projection on how she feels about herself .. despite her quirky facade .. she really has a vapid man obsessed personality and only feels alive when big runs back to her and she is sabotaging another relationship. Natasha was not the problem and deserved better !
